For the Qihou Street Art Project held along Tongshan Rd. in Qijin Dist. in 2007, artist Liu Ting-tsan used stainless steel to forge a crab, raising its claws high over its head. The name of this artwork was “Crab,” which sounds similar to “prosperous seafood market in the Qijin District” when pronounced in Taiwanese. Over a decade later, Crab has been moved the Hongmaogang Cultural Park, an area also abundant in oceanic atmosphere. The artwork, enjoying its new location surrounded by the sky and blue sea, stands next to a yacht terminal while its claws are raised in a valiant and resilient fashion. The artwork faces the cultural park with the Second Port of Kaohsiung behind him, in a position that seemingly greets all Hongmaogang Cultural Park visitors while showing them the beautiful sea and lively harbor.
