This puppet is a set of chairs on which nobility, high ranking officials, generals, ministers, and the rich sit. It is red and black, with hollowed out floral and dual-deer patterns that symbolizing blossoming wealth and honor, as well as long-lasting official positions. In Chinese language, “deer” and “riches and official positions” are homonyms that share the same pronunciation.
