The Museum of Fine Arts Station Art Installation Project, supervised by the Southern Region Engineering Office of the Railway Bureau and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, transformed Chen Chi-kuan’s painting Ninety-degree Curves into a magnificent mosaic wall and floor creation at the Museum of Fine Arts Station.
Chen’s “roundabout artwork” series was inspired by a plane trip, where he experienced the skewed scenery as the plane tilted to one side. Such an experience led to the creation of many unique masterpieces. He subsequently created art from different perspectives (e.g., a bird’s-eye view and a worm’s-eye view), allowing viewers to experience landscape from different angles. An architect as well as a painter, Chen’s works embody the architects’ aesthetic taste, where he joins abstract concepts and ink wash painting materials together to give birth to new art.
