Stop & Go is an artwork erected at the Hamasen Railway Cultural Park with crab-like claws made of steel and tightened by screws. The artwork evokes a sense of alienation at first, though a closer look at the piece reveals a charming swing where one can sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Shoushan and the Hamasen Railway Cultural Park.
Its creator utilizes this “contrast” to compare the area’s serene and leisurely pace with the hustle and bustle of Takao Station’s past. A warning sign “stop & go” originally set up by the transportation industry has now been converted into a friendly reminder, urging people to slow down and enjoy life in our busy surroundings.
