Architechture 076:Center for Children and Families (Cishan Branch)
Cishan District Center for Children and Families (Cishan Branch)
Built in 2018 and located in Cishan District, the Center for Children and Families (Cishan Branch) is a branch of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families and is a co-designed project by Zeng Rui-hong Architects and SUEP (Hirokazu Suemitsu and Yoko Suemitsu). At the center, rock climbing facilities and slides were constructed to offer young children a safe space to learn and play. Thermal environmental simulations were performed in calculating the angle of sunshine and installing green roofs with automated sprinklers, whereas structural bricks with specific tilt angles were used to cover beams and pillars to deflect direct sunlight while maintaining favorable lighting and ventilation. An arched corridor similar to those found in Cishan street houses was built to create a simple structure that integrates into the surrounding environment.
