Item Description:
The Chinese characters here express hope and good will, serving as stage flats in deity plays. Deity plays are part of religious rituals that pay gratitude to the gods. The words on both pieces are written vertically and hung at both sides of the screen during performances. The line to the left means Blessings of Promotion and Good Fortune, the other reads the Celebration of Ghost Festival. They are decorated with hollow out flowers and trims, affixed with Chinese copper coins.
