American artist Arman was one of the few artists written into the history of contemporary Western art during his lifetime. The most famous art style he used involved giving daily ready-made objects new looks and meanings by repetition, stacking, cutting, and rearrangement to create extreme Assemblage art. Located in the outdoor plaza of TRA Xinzuoying Station, “Stop, Look and Listen” is the only public art Arman created in Taiwan. He stacked obsolete level crossing signs together to demonstrate the accumulation of human life and emotions, showing how art can be used to preserve objects that have lost function and identity, and given new meanings and values.
