Found in the Kaisyuan Metro Station, The Age of Dreams was created by Yuma Taru, an Atayal artist who received the honorary title of “important preserver of traditional art.” The piece, made from ramie and hand-dyed wool yarn (mediums rarely used in public art), reveal the labor and “natural colors” in indigenous tribes via delicate interweaving techniques.
The fiber materials showcase a contrast between lines and texture as well as unique textural strength. Hidden in simple artwork are natural conditions and social customs of Yuma’s homeland as well as a place of physical and mental comfort for those who travel to cities to pursue their dreams.
