Paiwan artist Nitjan Takivalit created most of his artworks based on personal life experience. Such experience comes from his surroundings and indigenous tribal culture. Accordingly, his artworks depict a strong sense of cultural transmission and tribal life. Located by the Kaohsiung Indigenous Hub, Inheritance features a five-meter-tall adult and a three-meter-tall child statue that present a solemn and respectful appearance. The artwork is based on Nitjan’s personal tribal experience; when senior tribal members become old, weak, and unable to work or hunt, they will put on formal attire and pass their life experience, skills, wisdom, and spirit to the younger generation (usually in their grandchildren’s generation). This piece is placed beside the Kaohsiung Indigenous Hub to advocate the passage of experience.
