Takao Water Works opened in 1913 to manage the storage and supplying of clean water., In present day, Kaohsiung city recognizes the facility’s water purification pools, purification wells and water meter rooms as historical preservation sites. A layer of turf covers the purification pool, with several ventilation systems throughout, though the former stone imitation entrance is gone. The purification well is a tall cylinder with a vaulted roof, emphasizing the porch’s design and inserts a sense of tranquility in the historical architecture. The small water measuring chamber at the foothills is influenced by the classical, European continental style, and its overall design is similar to the official office’s entrance with a porch, gables, embossed sigils and a richly decorated truss.
