In 2008, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit officially opened for operation. This new mode of transportation brought changes to people’s lives and made public art in rapid transit stations a new aesthetic trend. The Dome of Light located in the hall of Formosa Boulevard Station is an epic masterpiece was designed by world-renowned artist Narcissus Quagliata using superb glass art and fabrication technology. The dome introduces four themes which, listed in a clockwise direction, are “Water: The Womb of Life,” “Earth: Prosperity and Growth,” “Light: The Creative Spirit,” and “Fire: Destruction and Rebirth.” Travelers looking up at the multicolored glass doom often feel that they are drawn into the vast expanse of the Universe, creating a memorable traveling experience.

說起高雄捷運,想必許多人心中第一秒浮現的是位於美麗島站大廳的《光之穹頂》。由國際知名藝術家水仙大師(Narcissus Quagliata)以精湛的玻璃藝術及製作技術,勾勒出一幅史詩巨作,穹頂依順時針方向分別為「水─生命的孕育」、「土─繁榮與成長」、「光─創造精神」、「火─毀滅與重生」四大主題。
當觀者仰望色澤幻化的玻璃穹頂時,宛如進入宇宙浩瀚長流,成為乘客心中一幀美麗的回憶。
