Taiwan International Children & Youth Festival
Creating an Immersive, Cross-Disciplinary Cultural Playground for the Senses
“Helping every child see the world through reading and shape the future through creativity”—with this vision in mind, the Kaohsiung City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung Public Library, and the Ministry of Culture have joined forces this year to present the Taiwan International Children & Youth Festival, an event created especially for children and young people. Bringing together books best suited for children and youth, outstanding theatrical performances, and high-quality films from Taiwan and around the world, the festival builds upon the spirit of last year’s book fair and elevates it into a major public celebration that embraces both local identity and an international perspective.
This year’s festival features three signature programs: the Future Generation Book Fair, offering an innovative reading experience; Young Boom! Theater, showcasing the vibrant energy of live performances; and the TIFFI Taiwan International Children Film Festival, delivering outstanding international films directly to schools and cinemas. France has also been invited as this year’s Guest of Honor, bringing the rich cultural heritage of its classic publishing tradition together with the creative energy of contemporary works. By breaking beyond the boundaries of traditional media and fostering exchanges among diverse languages and cultures, the festival aspires to create an immersive cultural playground that transcends printed books, live performances, and audiovisual storytelling, engaging all the senses.
This grand festival also brings together many renowned creators to participate in the celebration. From June through September, a series of reading promotion activities and film festival events will be held across Kaohsiung, serving as a prelude to the main festival. We warmly invite children and young people, parents, teachers, and all reading enthusiasts from across Taiwan to visit Kaohsiung. Hop aboard the Light Rail, like a “Cultural Train,” and journey through the Asia New Bay Area, where sea breezes meet the fragrance of books, as we explore this vibrant and enriching festival for children and youth together.
From September 23 to 27, come to Kaohsiung and discover the world through film, literature, and theater.
