Kaohsiung Fun Arts Summer Festival
Set off with your creativity. Discover Kaohsiung through art.
As the first half of 2026 winds down, leaving our lives packed with the relentless rhythms of school and work, why not take advantage of this sun-drenched season for a brief yet beautiful breather? Starting this June, Kaohsiung’s arts and cultural hubs—from museums and galleries to libraries and performance venues—are launching an exciting lineup of events perfect for students and families alike. Step away from the daily grind and immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant artistic atmosphere. Let creativity and imagination be your companions as you unwind and embrace the summer holidays!
Throughout the summer season from June to August, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government, has curated five main series of activities for all ages: “Explore Exhibitions,” “Listen to Stories,” “Play with Drama,” “Get Hands-on Crafting,” and “Joy of Reading.” Along with a series of exclusive “Multi-Venue Discounts and Perks,” these activities invite families to immerse themselves in a world where art and reading intertwine and discover the city’s warm cultural heartbeat this summer. Under the “Explore Exhibitions” series, visitors can wander through the Pier-2 Art Center, Kaohsiung Music Center, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and Children’s Museum of Art to experience the trendiest, most authentically Taiwanese, and purest artistic creations, alongside the immersive interactive experiences extended from them. The “Listen to Stories” series features guided walking tours, storytelling, and interactive puzzle quests designed to lead history buffs on a journey through time. Participants will uncover the historical roots of the Takao Railway Museum, Fongyi Academy, Cishan Living Cultural Park, and the Cishan Station Sugar Railway Museum. Meanwhile, the “Play with Drama” series invites audiences of all ages to connect with Kaohsiung through interactive theatrical performances at the Kaohsiung Museum of History, or embark on their own adventures fueled by the cinematic and dramatic magic of the Kaohsiung Film Archive and the Neiwei Cinema.
Moreover, the family-favorite DIY hands-on workshops are back! The “Get Hands-on Crafting” series offers families a chance to cook a heartwarming meal together at Huangpu Wonderland, craft pineapple fiber paper postcards at the Taiwan Pineapple Museum, or learn about prehistoric tools at the Fengpitou Archaeology Education Center. Visitors can also experience making traditional toys like bamboo guns and wooden boats at the Hongmaogang Cultural Park—engaging both minds and hands to spark pure creative joy. Meanwhile, the “Joy of Reading” series invites children to an overnight sleepover at the Kaohsiung Public Library (Main Library), embarking on a 26-hour reading adventure packed with bilingual picture books, creative drama, and imaginative exploration. Local library branches will also host Taiwanese storytelling and word games, introducing families to the beauty of the Taiwanese language. Finally, the “Multi-Venue Discounts and Perks” will ensure that as you wander through these arts and cultural spaces, you can enjoy fantastic savings and head home with a heart full of wonderful memories.
Stay tuned for more exciting activities that blend artistic imagination with everyday fun, to be announced on the official websites and social media pages of participating arts and cultural venues. We warmly invite families with children of all ages to wander through Kaohsiung—to capture the city’s landscapes with your eyes, shape creative inspiration with your hands, and feel the heartwarming harmony where art and daily life meet.
