Under the Starry Sky, On the Green Grass – The Ever-Popular Grassland Concert!
The Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival, the largest arts and cultural event in southern Taiwan, is back! This March, the most anticipated Grassland Concert will present “Matilda” and “K-drama OST” on the grassy slope of the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA). With stunning visuals, a live performance by the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, and Kaohsiung’s uniquely expansive open-air setting, the Grassland Concert is eagerly awaited by fans every year.
In 2009, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government, hosted the first chair-free Grassland Concert on the grassy slope of KMFA. Since then, audiences have been experiencing symphonic music most relaxingly on the grass during spring nights. Under the starry sky and gentle breezes, families come together to have a picnic. And what could be a better movie for families to enjoy together than “Matilda”? “Matilda” is adapted from the award-winning novel by the famous British children’s author Roald Dahl and directed by Danny DeVito. The movie tells the story of Matilda, a brilliant little girl who loves learning and school, and how she overcomes the oppressive figures at her school.
Which K-drama has stayed with you the most? Which K-drama OST has left a lasting impression in your heart? The “K-Drama OST” Grassland Concert is going to bring you an unprecedented experience. The concert features the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, guest concertmaster violinist Kim Mi-Jung, and two Korean singers – Sam Kim and Kim Na-Young – as performers. On the grassy slope of KMFA, melodies and scenes from 18 popular K-dramas will be recreated on the big screen. Through powerful, delicate, and multi-layered vocal and symphonic tones, the melodies intertwine with the images, leading the audience to relive the stories and emotions of beloved K-dramas.
