“OPEN CAMP” KMFA’s 30th Anniversary Finale
A one-of-a-kind city experience!
The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA) is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking the centennial of the founding of the city of Kaohsiung in 2024. Following the legalization of the KMFA in 2017, the museum is committed to a new vision and shaping its own influence, to bring art closer to the public and integrate it into our daily lives. To mark the 30th anniversary, the KMFA has introduced many improvements to its services in line with the exhibitions. In June this year, the KMFA and the Tate Modern launched the “Capturing the Moment: A Journey Through Painting and Photography” international special exhibition. This exhibition features classic, profound, and historically significant art that swept across Taiwan from Southern Taiwan. The exhibition set a record of 160,000 visitors on November 17, the closing day of the exhibition. The most beautiful “art club” in the south is thriving.
KMFA’s unique art park is also one of Kaohsiung’s most fascinating urban highlights. The 43-hectare ecological area, filled with grass and trees, is located at the most exquisite intersection of the cityscape, yet has the tranquility of a corner where you can turn off the beaten path and find a place outside of the city. Therefore, we invite you to “OPEN CAMP” and expect you to bring an open heart to KMFA for a brand-new attempt between art exploration and everyday life - bring a tent to sleep in for one night and find your own “camp”; from day to night, turn the corner to discover the healing time in the city, where the scenery is at your fingertips.
Exclusively curated by KMFA, “OPEN CAMP” will, for the first time, open the entire park to the public. Step into four stage areas to savor gourmet food, enjoy music, and immerse yourself in the company of art. The event will feature over 20 camping brands, customized luxury RVs, market-style vendors, and local handcrafted creations in a grand gathering. Diverse visual aesthetics and dynamic musical performances will set the tone, with a relaxed ambiance inviting you to wander freely through the lush greenery. Nighttime highlights include the KMFA Night Walk, Neiwei Cinema’s Midnight Show, and warm late-night delicacies. As the grand finale of KMFA’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, this unique cross-disciplinary art and lifestyle event is one you won’t want to miss.
