Art Classics Gather in Kaohsiung
The artist employs a paintbrush and a lens to accurately capture a moment in time, reproducing the reality before them.
Cultural vitality is the driving force behind a city's growth and development. It represents the promotion and deepening of a city's cultural energy. In recent years, Kaohsiung has been working to establish a city with a unique identity based on culture, science and technology, and tourism. This identity is built upon a foundation of environmental and human resources, and the city's goal is to become a happy and livable place to work and live. Furthermore, we aim to foster international connections, promote urban exchange, and enhance competitiveness. We are delighted to collaborate with Tate Modern on this exhibition, "Capturing the Moment: A Journey Through Painting and Photography," which reflects an international perspective.
The opening of the light rail will connect the city's transportation network, enhancing the city's overall mobility. The construction of this transportation infrastructure facilitates public transportation links to Kaohsiung's diverse venues, allowing citizens to conveniently access arts and cultural activities. In recent years, from Creative Expo Taiwan to Taiwan Design Expo and Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo, art, design, creativity, technology, and other energies have converged in Kaohsiung, not only locally but also throughout southern Taiwan and the entire country. The city of Kaohsiung has demonstrated its capacity to leverage hardware and software resources to create a vibrant and dynamic cultural ecosystem.
The international contemporary art exhibition Capturing the Moment - A journey through painting and photography, which has attracted considerable interest from art fans in Taiwan this summer, is now entering the countdown stage. This exhibition selects 55 works from the classic collections of Tate Modern and YAGEO Foundation, bringing together a total of 35 modern and contemporary art masters. It explores the interrelationship between brush and lens, painting and photography through six subtopics. Following the success of the 2018 "Nude" exhibition, KMFA and British Tate Modern have once again joined forces for this exclusive overseas tour. This marks the first time that an exhibition hall has showcased the professional standards of KMFA's planning, and it has been met with great trust and admiration by Tate Modern. This event is set to be a significant highlight of the 30th anniversary celebrations for the museum this year. This summer, Kaohsiung will play host to a unique opportunity to view some of the most profound works of art that have influenced Western art history over the past hundred years.
We are pleased to announce that KMFA is celebrating its 30th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we are offering free admission to the museum for individuals celebrating their 30th birthday this year, particularly those interested in the ticketing international special exhibition. We hope that, at this unique and meaningful moment, you will consider taking the light rail and walking into the museum to experience the interaction with the world-class art museum.
