Spring is here and welcome back to KSAF!
The Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival (KSAF) is an annual event that takes place from late February to early July. It brings together talented performing artists and technical teams from around the world to create a unique and unforgettable experience in Kaohsiung. The festival has been running for 15 years and has produced many memorable performances that have evoked a range of emotions.
During the spring season, KMFA Lakeside Lawn will host concerts, including a 'February 28 Grassland Concert' to commemorate and pray for love and peace, as well as two concerts featuring classic and timeless films, 'Superman' and 'Back to the Future'. The concert takes place from dusk until the starry night, and families are welcome to join and have a picnic. The iconic soundtrack by John Williams will accompany the unrestrained fantasy sound, and you can take off into the grassy night sky with Superman!
KSO and KCO's music programs feature renowned musicians such as Italian violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, winner of the Paganini Competition, Ukrainian pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk, three-time winner of the World Piano Competition, and American violinist Lu Si-qing, who is performing with KCO for the second time. Don't miss their flagship opera 'Tosca' or the highly anticipated Japanese Noh drama 'Mazu', which was finally performed in Kaohsiung in May after two years of preparation. The orchestra is hosting two family concerts featuring joyful music for children. Additionally, there are new Spring Art series performances including 'Little Theater', 'Taiwanese Opera', and 'Environmental Dance'. These performances are popular among young audiences and 'Environmental Dance' pushes the boundaries of the field. The audience can enjoy dancing in close proximity to the dynamic dance at Shoyoen, the Former Tangrong Brick Kiln, and the Former British Consulate at Takao.
Our program offers a diverse range of entertainment, including music, film, dance, small theater, opera, family events, and Noh opera. The events run from the end of February through the beginning of July, spanning the transition from winter to summer. Join us for a wonderful experience! Welcome to the 15th year of KSAF!
