KFF's New Curatorial Exhibition Crossing Disciplines, Cultures, and Technologies
With the advent of the post-pandemic era and the revival of the arts and culture industry, the Kaohsiung Film Festival 2023, curated by the Kaohsiung Film Archive, will be enthusiastically launched from October 7 to October 22. This year's theme is an almost escapist, yet romantic and enchanting atmosphere at the core of "Boy's Love", embracing a new multi-dimensional imagination of "beauty".
From classic films to Taiwanese time travel films, feature films to short films, long series to mini-series, documentaries to reality shows, from European to Japanese to Korean and Southeast Asian, this year's Kaohsiung Film Festival will offer "Boy's Love" to outline the diverse and full of possibilities world of boy's love. In addition, new themes such as "Classics Only in Cinema", the never-before-seen "mind-blowing" film, and "Atypical Window", a collection of international popular platters, will be presented. There are also "International Short Film Competition", "Kaohsiung", "Tribute to the Master", "The Evolution of Directing", "Transforming Japan", "Children's Fantasy Country" and other wonderful projects. The 2023 KFF will definitely let fans enjoy themselves and watch good movies.
The highlight of the Kaohsiung Film Festival, "XR Dreamland" is Asia's largest immersive and virtual reality video exhibition. This year, it will join the Ministry of Culture's "Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo (TTXC)" at the Pier-2 VR Motion-sensing Theater and the TTXC Pavilion of the Coral Zone at the Kaohsiung Music Center to showcase more than 30 top titles of future trends. "Focus of the Year" features mixed reality experiences where multiple people interact at the same time. "International View" includes virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, remote co-performance and other visual views. "Kaohsiung Original" showcases the highest masterpiece made in Taiwan. The international competition will be expanded this year to bring the world's best XR experience.
The TTXC will use the Coral Zone at the Kaohsiung Music Center as the main venue to host the largest immersive film festival in Taiwan, recreate popular movie scenes, and invite famous speakers in the fields of technology and culture from home and abroad to share the latest trends in the cultural technology industry in Kaohsiung.
