Make a Reservation to Unbox the Neiwei Arts Center
Upholding the core spirit of "Art in Life, Life in Art", Neiwei Arts Center is jointly constructed by Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA), Kaohsiung Film Archive and Kaohsiung Museum of History. Yet to be officially opened, it has drawn crowds to take photos on Makadao Road. On the west side of the KMFA, the white belt-like, light-weight building, which covers an area of about 1 hectare and has an interior of about 2,645㎡, was designed by architect Liu Peisen to symbolize the topography of Shoushan. There are no columns and beams inside, which makes people walk around very easily. More importantly, it is only a minute's walk from Neiwei Arts Center Station on the Circular Line, which is bound to become the most popular new cultural landmark in Kaohsiung.
The name of Nei Wei refers to the bamboo hedge around the settlement, which has a rich cultural history. However, the Makadao Road is separated by the Western Trunk Line for a hundred years, and Nei Wei is separated into the old and new neighborhoods accordingly. Now, with the construction of the underground railway, Green Park Road, light rail MRT ring system, and the carefully planned Neiwei Arts Center, we are closing the city with culture, and will drive the regeneration opportunity of old neighborhoods.
Neiwei Arts Center's first exhibition, titled "Once Within Borders", is open to the public. You are welcome to make an appointment to see art exhibitions, movies, restorations, design and have some coffee. In order to thank them for the ten years of patience and waiting, we reserved half of the reservation places for Neiwei residents. We hope that visiting the art center will be as natural for the Neiwei residents as shopping at Neiwei market.
After breaking the border is endless imagination and possibility. You are welcome to join us to achieve an art experience without boundaries and barriers.
Please pay close attention to "What's New" on Neiwei Arts Center official website or facebook page of Neiwei Arts Center (www.nwac.org.tw) for information on Neiwei Arts Center's trial run and reservation for the first exhibition.
