Jhuang Tou Fringe Festival, entering its 12th year this year, is an art event with a long history in Kaohsiung. The performances that go deep into the community have received enthusiastic response from the audience every time. In the post-pandemic era, due to the slowdown of the COVID-19, the Jhuang Tou Fringe Festival resumed this year, bringing formal performances to the ordinary spaces such as temples, schools, streets and communities, hoping to boost the confidence of citizens through performing arts.
This year's Jhuang Tou Fringe Festival will run from the end of August through December and include the popular Taiwanese opera. Chun-Mei Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Ming Hua Yuan (Tian) Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Ming Hwa Yuan (Ri) Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Sheng Chiu Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Sun Hope Taiwanese Opera Troupe and Shiukim Taiwanese Opera are invited to perform Taiwanese opera. Kaohsiung's outstanding theaters, such as Bean Theater, Apple Theater and ChiChiao Musical Theater, are also invited to present wonderful performances for the whole family to bring people a happy weekend.
The concerts brought by Total Musical Theater, Succession Percussion Group, Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble will bring good music to the people. The puppetry by Chin-Fei-Feng Marionette Theater, Yung Shing Le Shadow Troupe, Tien Hong Yuan Opera and Jin-ing-ger Puppet and other outstanding puppet troupes in Kaohsiung will bring traditional culture and art into people's life and revive the charm of puppetry.
The "drama", "concert" and "puppetry" performances will be preceded by educational promotion activities for the first time, so that the audience will not only see the performances, but also have the opportunity to learn different aspects of the performing arts.
