Kaohsiung Music Center
The southern pop music flagship is ready to set sail.
The liveliest music festival in Taiwan, Megaport Festival, will be back in March! It is Taiwan's most iconic outdoor music festival, where big stars and indie bands come together to bring you gentle and passionate music. The unique style of the southern port city guarantees lasting memories for music fans every year. People who missed out on tickets this year shouldn't be disappointed, because the Kaohsiung Music Center, one of the most important pop music halls in southern Taiwan, is about to open after 10 years of preparation and construction. The music show, together with the harbor scenery, will bring music fans a fresh and brand-new experience.
We know that apart from the establishment of the Kaohsiung Music Center, our long-term goal is to develop the pop music industry in Kaohsiung. Therefore, we have started a series of development programs since the beginning of the establishment of the Kaohsiung Music Center. The Pilot Scheme for the Revitalization of Pop Music Creation and Performance Spaces, launched in 2009, aims to foster talents through subsidies for the improvement of performance spaces and equipment. The South Music Songwriting Awards since 2010 and the Battle Youth Campus Band Awards since 2013 have encouraged more songwriters to create music by providing awards and opportunities to release albums in cooperation with professional music producers. The Live Warehouse, launched in 2015, brought together domestic and foreign bands complemented with professional equipment and technicians to attract fans and accumulate southern pop music energy. From 2020, the "Super Nutrition" lecture series were launched, which includes training regarding bands, professional audio technology, new generation music performances and other courses. All of these programs are for the preparation of the opening of the Kaohsiung Music Center. Only by cultivating talent and increasing the pop music population can we lay a solid foundation for the future operation of the Kaohsiung Music Center.
For the countdown of the opening, the "Performance Hall Software and Hardware Technology Testing Conference" was held in February 2021, inviting three bands and hundreds of professionals in the music industry to participate in the test run so as to gain valuable opinions from experts. The full load test run, scheduled to be held in late March, will further comprehensively test the operation of the equipment and software functions such as moving lines, front and back stage services, and conduct a "general test" that is open for the audience to watch for the first time.
Located near Kaohsiung Bay, the most important pop music center in southern Taiwan is making relentless efforts to make the final push for its official opening. It will be the core venue for pop music performances, nurturing popular music talents and supporting the music industry in southern Taiwan. We look forward to this moment, and we sincerely welcome everyone to join us.
