The Prospect of 1949: The Exhibition of R.O.C. Cultural Relics Crossing the Sea
■Venue: No. 12-1, Mingde New Residential Quarter, Zuoying Dist., Kaohsiung City
The civil war between the Kuomintang (KMT)-led government and the Communist Party of China (CPC) from 1948 to 1949 resulted in the KMT government’s three consecutive defeats, leading to an evacuation to the island of Taiwan. The 1949 retreat led to a population influx that had significant impact on contemporary history.
Looking back at the events of 1949 through the letters of famous people, this exhibition builds a historical dialogue aimed toward an understanding of the present to provide progressive prospect.
