What is a Cuttlefish is a funny and unique art installation that resembles an octopus with a round body and belly, wearing shoes and lifting its four trumpet-shaped limps upwards to cheer that seems to dance with the breeze.
The artwork features a variety of imaginative shapes such as an underwater octopod, an exotic, lily-like flower, a sturdy submarine, and an alien robot, emphasizing that contemporary art deconstructs specific structures to incorporate diverse art forms that inspire viewers’ imagination.
The steel-based work is filled with a strong industrial symbolism, echoing Kaohsiung’s industrial roots. The wind-oriented design of the piece reveals the “spontaneous attitude” of sea breezes, bringing natural environments and human civilization together.
