“Look! It’s the Sound of Iron,” is a large iron-based installation designed by artist Cheng Hung-nan. Cheng stacked layer after layer of rectangular iron plates together to create this piece, encouraging his audience to look and “listen” to the artwork, in addition to generating a whimsical contrast in the title. Most of the metal’s original color remains and modifications were made only to embellish the piece. The natural and open “gesture” of the work shows its audience the original materials; the instrument-like design seems to produce iron-centric music that is the sound of Kaohsiung.
