Item Description:
Bao Gong is a black-faced supporting male lead; in Chinese theater, a black face represents a righteous character. Bao Gong demonstrates upstanding morality and meticulous care. His face is carved using engraving decoration skills, in which the puppet’s facial features are incised and colored. He has bright and piercing eyes as well as a long beard, and wears a court hat called black mink that suggests a high rank in the imperial court. He is a major character in "The Cases of Judge Bao" and "The Five Generals’ Conquering of the Southern Region".
