Public Art 063:Message of Peace, Multidimensional Visual Communication 9 X 6 X 18
Standing tall in the National Stadium outdoor square is Message of Peace, Multidimensional Visual Communication 9 X 6 X 18, a piece comprising of nine colorful hexagonal pillars designed by world-renowned Israeli artist Yaacov Agam.
With nine columns, six sides, and 18 grids, viewers must walk around to see the artwork and create varying multi-dimensional visual changes. Agam once said that many works of art are flat and “frozen;” he is the first artist to incorporate the element of “time” in art. In Hebrew, the concept of present tense does not exist; instead, the language forms an endless flow of time and space. This religious philosophy deeply influences Agam’s creative thinking, inspiring him to create an art piece that requires viewers to move continuously and produce art that embodies both the elements of movement and time.
