Inspired by the red-bricks buildings of Kaohsiung Senior High School, artists Ma Chun-fu and Lai Ting-wen used red bricks to create the artwork “Resonance”, incorporating the Taiwan High Speed Rail, MRT, bus, steam locomotive, Chukuang train, and Tzechiang train in the middle of a sphere, with the old Sankuaicuo Railway Station and Kaohsiung Main Station at its top. To show support for the music classroom next to the artwork, its bottom is surrounded by four large speakers that generate acoustic waves to elevate the sphere, symbolizing students’ hopes and dreams for a better future.
This artwork makes use of the Kaohsiung Senior High School’s unique geographical environment to convey the idea of the past mixed with the present, reminding people to think about history and our evolution.
高雄高級中學創建年代為日治時期大正11年(西元1922年)，為高雄市歷史最悠久之公立中學，校內尚保有三棟當時興建的建築，全棟以清水磚(TR磚)砌成，因其紅磚外觀俗稱紅樓。
藝術家馬君輔、賴亭玟將紅磚運用於《共鳴》中，球體中間為高鐵、捷運、公車、蒸汽火車、莒光號及自強號列車飛奔而出，頂端建築物為舊三塊厝站與舊高雄車站；配合旁邊音樂班教室，球體底部以四個大音響為元素，音波向下噴射帶動整個球體緩緩而升，象徵著莘莘學子對於未來的期盼與希望。
作品透過高雄中學特有的地緣環境，訴說今昔交錯的氛圍，觸動來往人們對於歷史與當下時間交錯的微妙感受。
