Formerly known as Minong, Meinong is an important Kaohsiung district located at a junction of plains and hills. The Minong Village Police Station was situated at Heng Street (modern-day Meixing Street) and relocated in 1906 to land donated by Liao Chun-hsuan et al. in 1904. By the early 1930s, the wooden police station suffered decay beyond repair, prompting village magistrate Lin En-kuei to reconstruct the building, giving birth to the architecture we see today. The police station features both Western and Japanese styles and contains an office in the center as well as living quarters–plant areas on both sides. In terms of the overall appearance of the police station (which includes gateposts and a porch in the front), art decorations and designs popular at the time were used, forming the main facade features of the building.
