Court attendance is generally an anxious experience. To ease the sense of solemnity evoked by courthouses, artist Hu Tung-ming designed a mentally soothing public art called “Dialogue—Between” set in the lobby of the Taiwan Ciaotou District Court.
To match the circular atrium roof of the building, Hu used translucent synthetic resin to build his artwork and maintains the original, unadorned colors of the materials, the latter of which signifies the pursuit of truth by courts. Flower petals swirling in the air symbolize the attempt to achieve a balance between different perspectives and emphasize fair, harmonious, and satisfactory legal judgement.
