Near Dadong Arts Center is a 71.4-meter hill previously used as a military-controlled field battle training site by the Military Academy and Army Infantry School. In recent years, some areas have been opened to the public as hiking trails, with clear water natural springs attracting many mountaineers. Yasuo Tominaga, the creator of “The Fountain of Creation”, incorporated the geographical environment into this artwork. He used the image of springs spurting upwards to symbolize the incessant flow of creativity, creative power, and innovation; thus, implying the combined efforts made by Kaohsiung citizens in all walks of life to elevate Kaohsiung’s competitiveness, much like water droplets gathering to form the ocean.
