Architechture 021:Former Offices of Wushulin Salt Co., Ltd.
The Former Offices of Wushulin Salt Co., Ltd. is a rare office building adjacent to salt fields and located in Yongan District, Kaohsiung. Built between 1923 and 1931, the main structure is a two-story flat roofed building. It features a combination of eastern and western architectural characteristics, with an arched (semicircular) facade. The primary gable is decorated with scrolls and blades of grass, with an embossed Wushulin Salt Co., Ltd emblem at its center surrounded by ears of rice. This differs from the commonly seen olive leaves in western architecture, and demonstrates local Taiwanese characteristics.
