Sun Wukong is one of the main characters in Journey to the West. He has a red face and features a golden circlet on his head. The method used in making his face is engraving decoration, where the puppet’s facial features are incised and colored. Engraving is a form of carving in which facial features are emphasized. Sun Wukong wears the garb of male warriors and carries his mighty Golden Cudgel. He has a vivid facial expression as well as versatile body movements.
